Hmm, well...

 

As helpful as that was, that's probably the least effective way to make B&W pictures. It's a good idea to try using the Channel Mixer (Image>Adjustments...) and select "monochrome/greyscale" rather than just desaturating it. It provides the opportunity to emphasize or de-emphasize certain colour groups (specifically red, green and blue). Also, that person's voice was very loud. Maybe I'll make up some tips soon...
