Actually there are quite a few easier ways to scale down a picture:
1) download Picasa 3 from Google (free) and install. Let it scan abd find your pictures om HD. Click on a picture in Picasa viewer and click e-mail. It will ask you what account you want to use, gmail or other and then to what resolution. Choose the desired resolution, send and... Bob's your Uncle...
2) from Windows select the picture and right click. Select send to e-mail, and follow the same procedure as before.
The benefit of the above two methods and not the origibal posted, is that it does not create a duplicate file on your computer.
