Can't pre-order ME3 collector's edition in store?

I went to my local store today to pre-order the ME3 Collector's Edition. The person helping me explained that they don't actually take pre-orders specifically for the CE--that, instead, you get the same pre-order as everyone else, and if you want the CE it's first come, first serve when you come to collect your pre-order.

I got the pre-order anyway, but this seemed really unusual. I mean, it seems to me like the only reason to pre-order at a place like Futureshop (which is unlikely to run out of the standard edition) is to ensure the availability of something like a limited or collector's edition.

I sort of wonder if maybe the person who was helping me had bad information. Can anyone confirm that this is the way it works or what their own experience with this has been?

You can pre-order the CE for ME3 through the website. I don't belive they are availiable to pre-order in store and will be on a first come first serve basic.

grajones is correct. Generally, in-store only allow pre-orders for regular edition due to the variation of availablility for limited/collector editions. For that reason, any limited or collector editions will need to be pre-ordered on FS.ca only.
