So, say that you had to get your 360 replaced under the Product Service Plan, what are the chances they'd let you go out and find a Jasper?

I would say it would depend on the mood of your CS associate.  Also, if the new Jaspers carry a new SKU, and the older falcons carry their old SKU, they might not even be allowed to replace it with a Jasper...  Especially if the unit you bought is a Falcon with the same SKU...

Well, we already have had a red 360 returned...defective. Two days out of the box, and bam! Scrached a nice ring around the game disc. Microsoft likes to ignore this problem.

Just to let everyone know, I picked up an Arcade Jasper about two weeks ago after my Falcon 360 from April 2008 got the RROD.  I turned it on one day when the room temp was cool at about 70 or so and about five minutes into Just Cause, the graphics glitched and the system froze.  When I turned it back on, RROD.  I sporadically turned it on over the next week or so and every time, the RROD.  I finally gave up and bought a Jasper.  The thing that puzzles me is that I had the Falcon on a laptop cooling pad (not plugged in though), which gave ample air space under the unit.  I was running a Nyko Intercooler EX on the back and a (competitor) USB cooling stand mounted on the right side of the unit with the grey grill cover removed so as not to restrict airflow.  Some may say that the Nyko was draining power from the 360, but I used a 203 watt power supply on the Falcon rather than the 175 watt it came with, so I had plenty of juice for the 360 and the Nyko.  I've got fresh hope for the Jasper.  My last two systems got the RROD running horizontal, so I'm going vertical now and I'm only using the (competitor) cooling stand.  Even after a couple hours of gaming, the bottom of the console where the GPU and CPU are remain cool to luke warm at most.  The Jasper power port doesn't even allow for the Nyko, so I'm not even thinking of using it.  The system is MUCH quieter too with only the stock fans and the (competitor) cooling stand.

Re: Finding Your Own Jasper 360 - A simple guide (With pictures)

For anyone looking for Jasper chiped 360's in atlantic canada, I work in the New Glasgow Future Shop location and we have had Jasper 360's for atleast a couple of weeks now and I have seen Pro and Arcade units with the new chip set. The only Elites I have come across so far were the Resident Evil 5 editions. If you are serious about finding a Jasper 360 I would say to go down to your local Future Shop store, tell them what you have learned in this post and if necessary even ask them to look it up. All Future Shop locations do have web terminals in store and im sure after reading this post they will be able to help you confirm if they have Jasper units or not.

Re: Finding Your Own Jasper 360 - A simple guide (With pictures)

At this point, only 60gb pro is jasper. Xbox Elites (Halo, GTA bundle) are merely retagged (stickered), they are still non-jaspers. People just be patient and wait for new batch.

You know you have Jasper when your Elite says, HDMI CABLE NOT INCLUDED !! hahaha
