There could be an issue with the disk or the XBox 360 console.

- Does your XBox 360 read other disks? It's possible your Modern Warfare 2 disk is defective. Bring it back to Future Shop (with your receipt) within 30 days of purchase to get it exchanged for another copy.

- Does your 360 fail to read other disks? It's very likely the issue is with your console itself. If it's less than a year old or otherwise out of warranty, contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX for service. If you have the Product Service Plan coverage on your console, and it is over a year old, you can bring your console to Future Shop for service.

Hope that helps!

Does it not detect a disc at all? Or does it read the disc and tell you "To play this game, put it in an Xbox 360 console?

If it's either of these, it's your DVD drive that's the problem, and you'll need to either get that fixed by Microsoft or by FutureShop, depending on whether you have a PSP or not.

Well first of all can your Xbox play other games?

If it does it may be because the disc is defective, is overly damaged (scratched) or what I have noticed with the new Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 game discs are getting made very cheaply.  This had happend to me and a couple of friends.  The little circle in the middle starts the crack in many different places and excessive use over time putting it back in the case and taking it out the cracks get bigger.

Depending on where you got it, if you have gotten a warranty for the game you may try and take it back with original receipt ,case and manuals if it is overly scratched or cracked.

If its defective and it has been within the amount of return days which Future shop's is 30 days you should be able to exchange it for another.

[ Edited ]

My ruleof thumb when I buy new games is that if it's something I plan on playing a lot of, I will install the game to my HDD.  This way when I play the game, the disc is not spinning, and there is much less of a chance something will happen to it while it is in the console.  It also lengthens the lifespan of the physical disc and can help prevent bad things from happening to it, even if it's not the best quality disc out there.

Currently I have Gears of War 2 and Borderlands installed, because those are the two games I play copious amounts of.  I had Fallout 3 installed for a while, but once I stopped playing it so often, I took it off to save hard drive space.

I'm gonna have to agree with the installing games on your HDD point, of course, if you have the space to do it.

I have a 120GB HDD strapped to my 360 and I have about 5 or 6 games installed to my HDD. Currently, Forza 3, Borderlands, L4D and L4D2, Mass Effect 2, and one last one I can't remember. lol I just deleted MW2 off there and installed Borderlands this weekend. Why? Cuz I haven't played MW2 since L4D2 launched. lol
