Re: Academy Award nominees

The Artist was really great, although...

Spoiler
...personally I'd have enjoyed a tragic ending much more than the happy one, but that's just me! I preferred the ending of Valentin's film-within-a-film. "Goodbye Doris, I never loved you...." :smileyvery-happy:

but either way, it definitely deserves everything it's (probably) going to get.

Re: Academy Award nominees

Granted, I haven't seen all of these movies, but i thought Rooney Mara was incredible in Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

And I loved Midnight in Paris. But I think the Artist or Hugo will take it for best picture.

Re: Academy Award nominees

I haven't seen all, but I've seen most, and my pick for best picture is The Artist. I've wanted to see Midnight in Paris, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I remember watching silent movies when I was a kid (didn't grow up in that era, obviously, but I still enjoyed watching them), and this film was very reminiscent of those times, and did a great job of illustrating the effects that major change can have in any field. Great acting, great presentation and al around just a great movie.

Re: Academy Award nominees

I'm still slightly bummed that David Fincher wasn't nominated for Best Director... Robbed I tell you.. ROBBED!

Well, I figure that the Artist is probably going to sweep the Academy Awards, but I'm hoping Hugo wins Best Picture.
