Day 1 Steelbook releases

I believe Future Shop should put a limit on release day Steelbooks to allow people who actually want these buy them.

I was in my local store this morning and a son and his mother came in and bought 5 each of the Harry Potter steelbook trying to say it is gifts for family which I know is BS. Also because of the shelf I had to wait while they had to do individual purchases for each one so they get a code to pick up the shelf as well

I believe there should be a limit of 2 Steelbooks per person

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

I agree that there should be a limit, however, most of the time most people working at FS have no idea what is going on themselves, so they don't know how many to sell.  It's hard enough trying to use the Disney coupons when they have them, they're advertised in their own flyer, yet they have no idea how to use them.

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

I agree that they should limit purchases on Release Day.  I even started a thread on this awhile back, but it did not seem to get much support.

Keep in mind that Future Shop is a business and they are in to sell product.  If limiting purchases means lower revenue, then it is not in FS's best interests to do so.

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

Stuff like steelbooks normally sell out on day 1 anyway depending on the title. This way if there is any remaining the next day then buy as many as you want

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

It depends on how many copies there were and where you live. There's still a good amount of Steelbook copies for Green Lantern. I remember The Dark Knight steelbook lasted a day at least.
I believe you can reserve a copy online for pick up in stores as well or just have it pre-ordered and ship to you house. The future is not that grim you guys.

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

Stores do usually limit day one sales of steelbooks/blu-rays/dvds but that doesn't really stop anyone from purchasing multiply copies.

In the end the person who working at the check-out is a minimum wage employee and doesn't care if your buying 1 or 10.  I know this really bothers collectors but they are a store with profit in mind first and customers second.

Re: Day 1 Steelbook releases

Old thread, I know but where I live (PEI) there are always steelbooks weeks- months after the release. The same went for when I lived in North Bay Ontario. So if you ever find them sold out you may wanna look to smaller places to get a hold of them.
