FAQ: Pre-orders

Recently there have been lots of discussions about pre-orders for movies & games popping up in the community, so we thought we'd post an FAQ that hopefully helps to answer some of these!

Q: I pre-ordered a title (gaming or movie). I see that the retail price has now dropped. Will I receive the lower price?

A: Yes. Your order is eligible for our lowest price guarantee and your credit card will be charged the lower price when your product ships to you. Read our guarantee.

Q: I pre-ordered a title (gaming or movie). I see that there is now a bonus SteelBook™ or bonus gift being offered with the title. Are all pre-orders eligible for these bonuses?

A: These bonuses are time-sensitive promotions that are limited in nature, therefore to take advantage of this special offer the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the bonus. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

Q: I pre-ordered a gaming title. I see there is now a limited edition available for the same price. Will my regular edition be upgraded to the limited edition?

A: This promotion is also time-sensitive and limited in nature as there are usually only a certain amount of limited edition titles that Future Shop has. Therefore to take advantage of this special limited edition the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the limited edition. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

Q: I pre-ordered a gaming title. I see there is now downloadable digital content available with the title. Are all pre-orders eligible for this digital content?

A: Digital content that we advertise is generally exclusive to Future Shop, and is therefore limited in numbers. Therefore to take advantage of this digital content the pre-order must occur within the specified time frame.* There is the option of cancelling your first pre-order and pre-ordering again to be eligible for the limited edition. These promotions cannot be combined with any other offers.

*Specified time frame refers to the date the promotion was featured, until the release date of the title.

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

When you say that "these promotions cannot be combined with any other offers", what do you mean by that exactly? Like say, the After Hours sale from this past weekend, or something else entirely?

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

Hi PikachuForever,

This would refer to stacking promotions from different times in the pre-order period. For example: A "Get $10 off in the cart promotion" cannot be combined with a "Pre-order 2 titles, get $20 off in the cart" promotion from the past.

Cheers,

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

I have 2 questions.

1) Why don't the old pre-orders get it? as in the reasoning behind this Time sensitive makes no sense (I understand the "till release" if you don't pre-order it you dont get it but what i do not understand is why would the previous pre-orders not qualify?) I understand there are limited quantities, but shouldn't the people who have already pre-ordered it long before it was announced deserve to get the bonus? I am only asking because (competitor) doesn't descriminate on older pre-orders, as long as its a pre-order they get everything.

2) So i have battlefield pre-ordered from june.

now i see there is a limited edition pre-order so you are suggesting i cancel my previous order? because i have about 4 other games on that previous order, and i can't cancel just one game ...

and then there is the issue of the steelbook as its on the website but it isn't listed under the game, so should i pre-order now and then pre-order again when the steelbook is listed?

What i mean to ask is why should i be required to keep a hawk eye on futureshop's product "bonuses" if i pre-ordered the game 3-4 months ago?

Also previously (NHL 12) i didn't recieve my steelbooks (even still) and people were able to get them when the game came out at stores or even online which makes no sense as that was a pre-order bonus yet people (like me) who did pre-order didn't get it yet someone who just bought the game on day one received everything. (I don't expect you to forward this, i am talking with customer service).

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

[ Edited ]

I'm very dissapointed with this information, because basically what you are telling everyone is that if you don't keep an eye on the website everyday there is a chance that someone who pre-ordered from you as soon it was available could actually end up not getting the bonus items. while another person who doesn't even care about bonus stuff who just happens to order during the window of time that the bonus stuff is offered will get it.

to me the logical way to do things would be to find out how many of the bonus items you will be getting, if you get 5000 steelbooks/ DLC codes or whatever, than the first 5000 pre-orders that were placed get the bonus stuff.

if you get 5000 of the bonus items, and only 3000 pre-orders are in place, than those 3000 get the bonus, and 2000 more are availble for new pre-orders. it's not rocket science.

why should the customer have to go through the hassle of cancelling an order and re-placeing it. what if the original order was placed during a promotion that gave the customer a savings, should we have to forego our savings because we want the bonus items that by all fairness should be given to us anyway.

Also if the item that now has a bonus is in an order with another item that has already shipped, the option to cancel the order is removed.

there are just too many reasons why this method of handling bonus items is going to drive customers away.

i have been a long time shopper at Futureshop, and lately with all the hassle over various bonus items that were promised and never delivered, I am re-considering things.

FS and BB are not the only places to get games, movies and tech

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

+1, Dido and Kudos on both above posts !!!

I am also wondering the same things and have asked this question in two other forums for BF 3 and Batman AC:

Do I need to cancel my preorder and re-preorder those two games at a certain time in order to recieve the steelbook/exclusives  and when will that be ?

Sorry but knowone answers forcing me to post the same question for the third time in different threads. : (

This creates a BIG problem for customers and frankly doesn't make sense to have preorders then.

If it's going to be like that then maybe when I cancel my preorder I just won't bother re-preordering and just go to the competition ie not FS or BB.

Hope this mess gets cleared up as it's not good for business.

Thanks

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

Also I just noticed a midnight launch for Batman AC.

Does this mean that if I don't go to the mid night launch that they will give out all the Steelbooks and when I get to the store the next day they will have non for me ?

I guess I might be cancelling another preorder if that is so.

And if so what is the point of preordering if someone who did not preorder goes to the midnight launch and gets the SB leaving non left for the people that actually preordered and that were told that it was "guaranteed" ?

Thanks

All you're saying is that you're punishing people who pre-order early and can't make it to midnight launches. Whats the point of pre-ordering early?

It says on the receipt that you will hold the pre-order for 7 days but I don't want to get to the store only to find out that my pre-order bonus is gone because it was "Time Sensitive". If you state that there is a pre-order bonus then I expect it with my game even if its on the 7th day that I pick up my game.

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

ok so now i have a question as I am confused.

So i ordered Batman Arkham City 2 weeks ago, it said I will get the steelbook and the DLC with it.  Now you guys have a "futureshop exclusive edition" and under the regular edition (which i ordered) it says all regular editions will be upgraded to the futureshop exclusive edition that includes the "steelbook and DLC."

Now I looked at my pre-order and it says "batman arkham city ps3" so according to your logic, even though the "promo" has now changed I should still get my steelbook and DLC correct, as that was the promo when I ordered it. Also do your CSR's have a list of all the promos and dates because its gonna be hard for me to show what I am saying is correct as your website has completly changed the bonus descriptions, so what do i do?

Re: FAQ: Pre-orders

Dose FS have a list of previous pricing.  My Bambi Metal shipped at full price (36.99), and I know it was 29.99 at shipping time.  Of course now it's back above $30.

So when I bring it to (or call) customer service will I be able to get the $29.99 price??
