Haywire
Film Synopsis
Mallory Kane (Gina Carano) is a black ops soldier hired by her handler Kenneth (Ewan McGregor) to perform jobs across the globe, which governments would like to stay away from. After saving a Japanese media reporter with her partner Aaron (Channing Tatum) in Barcelona, Spain, Mallory gets the nod from her handler for another mission in Dublin, Ireland. When the mission goes south and Mallory begins to find evidence that she has been double crossed, she does whatever it takes to run and hide, but also fto ind out who has double crossed her and make their life a little harder.
My thoughts on the film
‘Haywire’ definitely takes a different approach than the old, blow ‘em up; shoot ‘em up Hollywood-type films. I quite enjoyed the cinematography. The different camera angles and the few scenes where no one talked for a good five minutes, but still piece together the storyline, really got me interested. I wish there was more that got me interested. Gina Carano, who plays Mallory Kane, is actually a retired mixed martial arts fighter, so you can see why she kicks some ass in ‘Haywire’, but unfortunately, not a whole lot of ass. ‘Haywire’ was slow and didn’t have too much action, but still made you think to keep you somewhat interested. It definitely is a movie where you have to pay some attention too or else you may be lost.
Rating 2/5
‘Haywire’ didn’t impress me a whole lot. Other than the neat cinematography and the few ass-kicking scenes by Gina Carano, the storyline just wasn’t enough to keep me interested. I would pass on this one.
'Haywire' is now in theatres. Check your local theatre for showtimes.
