Re: Live Chat Oct 19 with Edward James Olmos from Battlestar Galactica!

[ Edited ]

Hi from the UK, thanks so much for doing this Q+A with us. You were sorely missed at Dragon*Con. I have to ask you the same question I asked Mary McDonnell earlier this year. When do you think Adama realised he loved Laura? I would be interested if your answers match. Also the chemistry between you and Mary McDonnell is undeniable, any chance of the two of you working together again on another project?

Thanks for your time!

Hi from France (yes, you've fans all over the world here)

1. Mary McDonnell explained that for some actors, this is not easy to 'wear' other 'clothes' now because BSG was much more than a tv show.

As an actor, how do you feel after 5 years in the role of Admiral Adama?

What's your opinion? And what's the opinion of people around you (family, friends)?

2. If you have the opportunity to do another BSG film, would you like to do:
- the first cylon war
- next chapter after the final episode
- Kobol war and foundation of 12 colonies
...or...do you have another idea for BSG universe?

3. what was your best moment in the show?

4. do you still have a BSG uniform in your closet?  :-)

Thanks a lot for all you gave us during past years.
From 'Gaff' to 'Adama', you showed us more than a role, you sent us humility and humanity, we are your fans, and not only in USA, we are fans all around the world.

Thanks a lot, hope to see you in France soon & do a ITW for our fan site.

Thank you letter from BSG-online fans

Mr Olmos, firstly, thanks for giving your time to do this Q&A, it is most definitely appreciated! I'm going to try to be here for the live chat, (let's hope I work out timezones correctly!) but I'd like to post now too just in case I miss it.

I've known actors to have commented that some controversial plotlines push them more as actors because it goes against their own beliefs. I'd like to know whether you, as an actor, found the controversial scenes in Battlestar more challenging, or whether they were something you enjoyed shooting because you got a different point of view on much debated topics?

Thank you for the amazing work throughout Battlestar Galactica, and I can't wait for The Plan! (even though it may be Mary McDonnell-less)

ETA: I've just been informed I'm also to ask you whether the Basauri con is definitely going ahead next year with yourself and Mary?

Re: Live Chat Oct 19 with Edward James Olmos from Battlestar Galactica!

Hi Mr. Olmos,

I'm a huge fan of BSG and am thrilled that it lives on in projects like "The Plan" and "Caprica". A few questions:

1) I was always a bit perplexed about Adama's decision to go it alone after Roslin's death on Earth 2. What is your take on his decision and why he didn't stay with Lee?

2) Adama is portrayed as a largely atheistic character. How do you think his views on religion influenced his decisions throughout the series, and what would have been different if he'd been a more religious man?

3) Are there any more mini-series in the works?

Thanks for taking the time to chat!

Hello Admiral,

I just recently finished watching all the seasons on Blu-ray and I was amazed. I never thought I would enjoy another space based series as much as Star Trek, in-fact I liked it more because it brought in a religious/evolutionary factor that brought me into the story. I would also like to thank you in your performance as a former stage actor I truely appreciate good acting in a TV series as it is hard to find. Good luck in your future. So say we all.

Mr. Bicknell, you should know that Future Shop Canada did a very mean thing when it released its exclusive Season 4.0 set (with metal casing) that included none of the extras the US version had. Fans expecting to find the same product in Canada were duped, and I lost $45 on it because Future Shop refused to give me a refund. I hope you can ensure Future Shop never does this kind of deliberately deceptive marketing again.
