Saw this advertized in the US and was just wondering if this was also being considered here by FS.
I have not seen any announcement of the G.I. Joe SteelBook™ from Future Shop. Perhaps Ian can make a comment on this.
Cheers

Just ran into this thread:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/9774422-post644.html
It's a Steelbook release for Dead Snow, does anyone know anything about it?, or have a SKU/Web ID because I really want to get one.
Release date is tomorrow I think.
Thanks

I saw the DeadSnow steelbook, and it looks really nice. Unfortunately, the location that I went to ( St. James in Winnipeg ) the last two copies and some nice dents in them, so I passed.
Tempted to pick it up, but usually the DVD Steelbooks last a lot longer than the Blu's. Heck, yesterday I picked up a bunch of DVD Steelbooks from FutureShop including:
Shrek 3, Departed, Transformers: Destroy, Transformers: Protect, Ong Bak, I Am Legend.
Cost me a pretty penny, thank you GST Cheque ![]()

A suggestion... please find better packaging material for shipping steelbooks through the mail.
I received my Sleeping Beauty... in a thin carboard mailer. ![]()
People buy these as collectors items and these steels do not survive the mail system without proper packing.
Perhaps take a look at what (competitor) uses to mail their items.

I've never had an issue with the FutureShop mailer, and I've ordered a bunch of SteelBooks from them. Sleeping Beauty, Departed, Superman Returns, The Watchmen, Transformers. All came in perfect condition. I can't speak for everyone though.

Actually the competition is not any better, (competitor) uses a custom made cardboard one size fits all mailer, which would normally be adequate, unfortunately they stuff them so full that everything gets crushed, specially these new 'Environmentally Friendly' DVD cases that don't have any strength whatsoever.
The best solution for any online retailer dealing with DVD's in my mind would be to wrap the DVD's in some corrugated lightweight cardboard, they sell this by the roll, and then use whatever mailer they prefer. The cost would be minimal and would probably pay for itself by cutting down on the damaged items.

For a regular non-steelbook release I wouldn't care since I could just exchange it at the store, but that certainly isn't an option with these hard to find steelbooks.
Owning a dented steelbook is like owning a dented Ferrari.
