Steelbook Packaging, hiding Dents on the case

I just picked up all 4 of those resident evil Blu-Ray Steelbooks, and when i opened the Degeneration movie, i found a pretty substantial dent in the front of the case that was hidden by the peice of paper that was wrapped around the movie, (the one that said "only at future shop...") is there any way that you could make the entire steelbook visible for future release, im just a little frustrated at the fact that i examined all the movies before i purchased them, and now i am stuck with a huge dent in one of them that was hidden from sight by that paper.

does anyone know the policy on exchanging a movie that has been opened? i just want a case that doesnt have a huge dent in it

thanks

I don't know if this applies to steelbooks but my sister bought season 2 of True Blood and there was this stupid Future Shop sticker on the Paper Box. She tried removing it and it ripped the box so she brought it to Future Shop and explained what happen and the guy exchanged it for a brand new factory sealed one.

Doesn't hurt to try.

I have similar issue with Twilight pack. I had a friend check for dents/chips however a dent wasn't visible due to the cardboard wrapper and well it was too much hassle to ship back to him and exchange. Also had a small chip, oh well lol

You can exhange a movie that is defective (and in this case I would agree the packaging is defective) and they will give you the same title if available. The policy is they will open it in store so that people don't buy movies, return them for new factory fresh product and then go sell it.

The paper portion on the bottom is unfortunatly a necessary evil as it allows us to put the mesaging, french translation stuff and legalize on there instead of the Steelbook itself. We push the studios to move as much of the legal/ratings/billing blocks stuff to this area so it isn't part of the packaging. Sorry this has turned into a hassle for you

The best thing that I have learned is to run your hands around the paper part when in store.

1) If you feel any raised bumps, 99.9% of the time it is just the glue

2) If you feel any depressed bumps, then looks like you have found a dented copy.

Of course, you may look like a complete idiot feeling up a SteelBook :smileytongue:

Re: Steelbook Packaging, hiding Dents on the case

It makes no sense why would we want to return defective item as sealed even the dents is hidden behind the paperslip packaging. Personally, I would just open and inspect it myself, since I paid for it; then from there I can go to the Customer Service to get a replacement or issue a full refund no question asked. Plain and Simple. Wasn't that hard? I meant its too much hassle for me argue or force me to leave the store, otherise I would not shop there at all. However, in the U.S. I just returned a damaged case, inspect it and received a full refund with no problem. I would suggest Future Shop to recognize this problem first and change the policy in order to improve customer's satisfaction.
