Re: The Muppets Collectable Packaging

The release date is scheduled for March 20, 2012.  That is still 2 months away.

Even if they did update anything at this point, anything can happen and can change between now and then.

It's probably safe to sit tight and wait and assume if you don't hear anything otherwise, it is still on-track for release.

And yes, I'm looking forward to this.

Re: The Muppets Collectable Packaging

I can't believe that The Muppets is getting collectible packaging and that I'm opting not to get it.  Whose decision was it to make this the bare-bones BD/DVD set instead of the Wocka Wocka pack?  Every other collectible case has come complete with the "most-discs" version of the movie, and now, for the movie closest to my heart from the last couple years, they go cheap.

Re: The Muppets Collectable Packaging

[ Edited ]

While I agree that I do prefer to have the more complete package, I'm not feeling too bad about THE MUPPETS because the Wocka pack includes a downloadable soundtrack and a digital copy for $5.00 more.

I've been sort of surprised lately how much of a premium has been placed on a digital copy now.  I own many of them but have never once used one, so I think, for the money, I would prefer not to pay for it.  They do expire after a limited time anyways.

As for the soundtrack, I agree that it is a nice-to-have.  I have not seen the movie, so I can't comment on the soundtrack itself, but personally, I would prefer to have a physical copy of the soundtrack over a downloaded copy.

I think if I really liked the music, I would prefer to pay $10 for a physical copy of the soundtrack, than $5.00 for a downloaded one.

If Future Shop were to bundle the movie (collectible packaging) with the soundtrack CD for an extra $7.00 or $8.00 I would get that for sure.

Re: The Muppets Collectable Packaging

I've never watched my Digital Copies, either, and I don't even have an iTunes account, so the soundtrack code won't do me any good, either (I own the soundtrack already, anyways; believe me when I say it's a home run).  It's a psychological thing rather than a practical one.  I mean, look at us collector's who double- or triple-dip for movies, just because of a new metal case, or a half-hour bonus feature, or to get some useless collectible postcards.  We do it because we want to know that we own the definitive edition of the movie.

I thought that was who Disney was targeting with their Collectible Packaging, the kind of person who would go the extra mile and pay the extra money (though, kindly, they've not taken advantage of us).  I guess this is just a circumstance of me falling outside the target group.  The gratification of owning the "complete" edition of this movie outweighs my desire for the metal case, and the Wocka Wocka pack looks great the way it is.

But we're on the eve of The Muppets finally coming home!  This is a time to celebrate!  Let us not let packaging quandaries and the disc's lack of satisfying bonus material mar the occasion!  Eat, drink, and be green!
