Nielsen Music Update from Last Week.

Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas" debuts at #1 on the Top Albums chart with 38,000 units sold. It is the legendary artist's first number one album and best one week chart total in the SoundScan era. He sold 15,000 units and debuted at #4 in October 2001 with "Ten New Songs." "Old Ideas" also debuts at #1 on the Digital Albums chart with 11,000 units sold. It is the 18th biggest one week digital album total, and 7th biggest for a Canadian artist, since SoundScan began tracking digital sales in 2005.

Adele's "21" falls to #2 despite posting a 4% sales increase over last week, with 13,000 copies sold. This pushes her release to date total to over one million copies, only the 11th album to reach the magic mark in the SoundScan era, which began in 1995. It is the first album to hit one million since The Beatles' "1" in 2006. It took "21" just 50 weeks to reach one million copies sold, the third fastest in the SoundScan era, only behind Celine Dion's "Let's Talk About Love" which took 14 weeks and "Big Shiny Tunes 2" which took 17 weeks.

"Born To Die," the debut full-length album from Lana Del Rey, enters at #3 with 11,000 copies sold. Her self-titled EP entered the chart at #19 three weeks ago.

Big movers include Hedley's "Storms" which leaps 18-6 with a 74% sales increase over last week, its best chart position since the album debuted at #2 in mid-November. Metallica leaps 182-15 thanks to its physical release, Angele Dubeau debuts at #25, Vincent Vallieres jumps 49-30 with a 67% increase, Madonna's "Celebration" re-enters at #34, Claude Barzotti debuts at #39 and the "Drive" soundtrack re-enters at #44, helped by the movie's release on DVD.

Carly Rae Jepsen continues her run at the top of the Digital Songs chart, holding at #1 for the fourth straight week, with 23,000 downloads sold, down just 1% over last week.

One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" debuts at #2 with 19,000 downloads sold. It is the biggest chart entry for a first time charted artist since the Stereos' "Summer Girl" entered at #2 in June 2009.

Madonna's "Give Me All Your Luvin'" debuts at #6 with 14,000 downloads sold in just three days of release. It is her best debut since "Give It 2 Me" entered at #4 in May 2008.
