Re: question about hooking up Wii console to RCA flatscreen

The Nintendo Wii includes the standard composite (red/white/yellow) cable to connect to a TV. Component (red/white/R/G/B) cables are also available, for an additional fee.

If that doesn't answer your question, feel free to join the Future Shop Community Forums and ask us your question. We'll be happy to help!

Re: question about hooking up Wii console to RCA flatscreen

I wholeheartedly recommend the component cable for the Wii. It makes a HUGE difference on an HDTV, and while it is still only shown in 480p, the fact that it properly fits the aspect ratio of the television makes a world of difference in the experience.

I don't think it matters whether or not you use the component cable to get the proper aspect ratio.

I have mine running through composite video and shows in the proper ratio as well.

It would make a difference in video quality though.

Re: question about hooking up Wii console to RCA flatscreen

I found that in order to get the aspect ratio on a widescreen display, the image ended up being stretched, whereas with the component cables it properly displayed everything properly without stretching.

Re: question about hooking up Wii console to RCA flatscreen

I have used both settings.  There is a setting in the Wii menu that lets you choose the display for either a 4:3 TV or a 16:9 HDTV.

Although it may be defaulted to different settings using different cables, using the composite does not exclude you from displaying it on a widescreen set.  I have mine connected via composite cable and it displays on my 16:9 display fine.

Of course, I don't know if this answers the original poster's question because as far as I could read, no question has been asked!
