Hi Rogina, I am in the same age group. You should get KARAOKE REVOLUTION from Konami, as it has a good mix of new and old songs for the Wii.
Of course most Karaoke games are now taken over by the ROCK BAND/GUITAR HERO games. I think all of them have a singing part as well as guitar, drums, and keyboards. Many of them are now discounted as well. My local Future Shop has many of these games on clearance for $9.99 (or less!).
They also have special editions of these games which focus on bands or genres of music such as Van Halen, The Beatles, Green Day, Metallica -- and even Country!
If you like Disney movies, they also have DISNEY SING IT! which has a lot of songs from their classical animation library such as THE LITTLE MERMAID, ALADDIN, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, CINDERELLA, etc. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy them. Also I have noticed that many of their songs (such as UNDER THE SEA) are actually quite difficult for kids (and even adults) to sing.
If you had a PS3 there is another huge series called SINGSTAR which is good.
