Re: Wii The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Arrving Nov 20, 2011

You were able to pre-order the LE Bundle with the Wii remote in-store at a Future Shop? First I've heard of it - as I understand, Future Shop has a policy of NOT pre-ordering limited edition bundles in-store because they cannot guarantee stock on them (godwin should be able to confirm if he reads this).

As for SforzaFS' post, he indicated that he pre-ordered from a different retailer, so Future Shop certainly isn't to blame in that case.

From what I understand, this was an extremely limited release for the LE bundles with the Wii remote. I had originally pre-ordered the regular edition at a competitor, and about a week and a half before release I changed my mind and upgraded to the bundle and was still able to get it, so I have to say that I've been quite shocked to hear some of the horror stories that have been posted here, not just about FS experiences, but at other retailers too (really, I am - usually I'm the one who ends up on the short end of the stick for extremely limited release bundles).

This is why I'm leaning toward this being a Nintendo problem more than any retailer. This problem seems to be fairly common at many different companies, and I can't imagine each individual company looking to intentionally lead customers astray in this regard. I'm sure that FS would want to get more bundles to satisfy the demand and fulfill all the orders that were placed, but if the stock simply doesn't come in from Nintendo, there isn't a whole lot that can be done. At the very least though, the order should be downgraded to the regular edition and shipped out as soon as possible so you can at least experience the game.

Here's hoping that something positive comes out of this for you all.

I don't see this as a Nintendo problem.  Big retailers like Futureshop and their main competitors are alerted to how many units they will be supplied and it was up to the retailers to take and handle pre-orders accordingly.

Aside from this Zelda bundle, I have pre-ordered numerous LE and CE items at the competitor and had no issue getting them (granted, there aren't any REAL limited items like this Zelda bundle) but did not pre-order Metal Gear Solid Collection Limited Edition PS3 (the version that is actually rare).

The competitor was always knew when to cut of pre-orders as they knew how many they were allocated so by the time I wanted it, I couldn't pre-order it.  With that said, I pestered a store until they found a customer who didn't pick up within the 48 hour window and the customer canceled when he was reach by phone to confirm his pre-order.  I was lucky to snap that one up.

This is assuming, of course, that the retailers got the numbers they were quoted from Nintendo. If they were quoted one number, and a different number arrived for release, there's not a whole lot the companies can do. If this is a common problem across different retailers, I can't imagine all of them dropping the ball at the same time on the same item, especially since this is something these retailers do on a regular basis.

Granted, I'm not employed by any of these companies, so I'm really only speculating.

Re: Wii The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Arrving Nov 20, 2011

Hi everyone

The purpose of this thread was discussion of the Legend of Zelda game, and as it developed, the deliveries that were not made on certain orders.

As that issue has now been resolved, per Laura's post, and the thread has gotten somewhat off topic into the realm of competitor discussion we will now lock it.
