Wii virus

So, Ive been reading about viruses and stuff, they seem pretty dangerious. I suspect my Wii may have one. You see my alarm clock is plugged into the same outlet as the wii, and its been acting up very strangly lately, it is always late no matter how many times i change the time, and im always late for stuff, anyways, i think the wii may have passed something, like a virus to my home appliances. i was watching transformers, that in that movie there was this cube and it made household appliances dance and shoot and stuff. I was thinking maybe sobody had the flu or something, or like a virus in their body, and the we were playing the wii (mario bros, if this helps) and they could have transmitted something from the controller, thru wifi to the wii, and then the virus told the wii to reprogram my alarm clock so im late all the time. i hope it wasnt my boos, hes been trying to fire me as of late. any help on this would be very appreciated.

alarm clock specs: durabrand, standard grey, overclocked...pun

wii, normal, white, bits of dirt here and there

please help im scared to touch the toilet handle

Part of me is wondering if this is some kind of joke - sounds a little too off kilter to be true - but in the off chance that it is true:

It sounds more like there is something physically wrong with your alarm clock than anything.  Viruses can't be transmitted from one plug to another in a power outlet, let alone from someone with a biological virus (a computer virus and a biological virus are not the same thing, though they act in similar ways toward what they affect).  Maybe try buying another alarm clock or using your cell phone (if you have one) as your alarm clock.

Re: Wii virus

this is definitely not a joke, i have been very angry over this! i know i may not know as much as those kids nowadays hehe :smileyhappy:, but i am willing to learn. i have replaced the alarm clock, im reading up on my viruses now, but are you sure that if i plug in the alarm clock it wont be destroyed again?

Re: Wii virus

If you are THAT concerned, put the alarm clock in a different outlet than the Wii.  I can tell you for certain though, that there is literally no way that your alarm clock could have a virus and that there is no way that your Wii could have gotten a virus through WiFi as a result of someone having the flu handling one of the controllers.

Okay. I'll bite.

A computer virus is just that -- a virus for computers. Humans can't get computer viruses, and computers/alarm clocks/Wiis can't get human viruses. Antivirus programs help protect your computer from computer viruses, just like your own immune system helps protect you from human viruses.

Really, I'd be worried when the government starts planting microchips in our heads and turning us into cyborgs. We'll all be part human and part computer, and susceptible to both kinds of viruses! Thoughts like that keep me up at night, man.

Re: Wii virus

Probably a troll, but FYI:

Some clocks get their timing signal from the power outlet, and require clean 120V 60Hz power. They'll run slowly if you plug them into a foriegn output (50Hz). They'll gain or lose time if you run them off a gasoline generator. Even our household electricity isn't always 60Hz - the frequency depends on the power grid's load and deviates from 60Hz during surges and brownouts.
