I think you would do fine if you're conscientious and passionate about electronics. I alone would do exceptionally well at Future Shop but another gigantic and very well-known company got to me first. besides, if I worked there I would end up broke...hahaha. The biggest thing is knowledge and how well you can sell. As a loyal customer at FS, I expect honesty and lots of knowledge from their sales staff - my expectations are mostly met. There's the odd one who I'll see once or twice and that's it.

If you are unsure about something don't be afraid to ask for advice from your managers or other experienced co-workers or even here. If you show them you want to learn and want to do your best I'm sure they will help you. Maybe you will be the one they turn to when others need advice. Keep up on everything and be yourself. Keep in mind that most of the staff are VERY knowledgeable about the products, find your area of strength and capitalize on it. Strive to be the best in that area, give it time and do it slowly. Be modest.

Do your research frequently because technology is continuously changing.

Re: Can a 14 year old work at futureshop?

So the min. age to work used to be 16 I believe, but I looked it up and it is now 14 for retail stores such as Future Shop in Ontario.

So it looks like you are good to go.  However, keep in mind that most Future Shop associates are fairly mature (18+) and have appropriate experience in the workforce before getting hired to work the floor.  That is just my observation.

YMMV so you should go for it.  Maybe your local store has a role for you!

Good luck.
