So I just attended a career fair held at a local Future shop and here's how it went:

I met with the first interviewer and I guess he was impressed because he sent me for a second interviewimmediately with a store manager (don't think it was the GM). Anyways, I waited for a bit and then met with the manager, this interview lasted about 20 minutes or so. He asked me a bunch of questions such as "how would you deal with a customer who says that they don't need any help?" or "How would you assist a customer who is unsure of what type of tablet they want?" (I am applying for entertainment). 
 
Anyways, I think the interview went extremely well and I believe the manager felt the same way. He said that I seemed to know my stuff, I was quick, etc. He said that he still had to review people from earlier that day as well as consider what positions are available but assuming that everything goes well, I should hear from him within 48 hours.


It's been 48 hours but no call back. Should I assume that they decided not to call me? Or perhaps it's just taking a bit longer to get back to me. I'm really excited about this job so any feedback towards my situation would be greatly appreciated!

Be patient, took them like a week or so for them to call my references and like another week to meet with the General Manager.

Thanks! I gave a call to the manager who interviewed me and decided to do a casual follow up and he told me that everyone who they chose to hire should receive a call by next monday or tuesday.

ya I'm going through the same thing. I went to a job fair on Friday and got a 2nd interview with the store manager right away. I think it went pretty will and he said that I'll get a call if pass the selection process. I'm pretty sure he said orienatation is sometime this week so I'm pretty nervous. Do they hire before or after calling references? And how should I do a follow up?

Hey Bender, well I'll let you know what happened with me. On the Friday of the same week of my interview I called and talked to (who I assume) was the hiring manager. Apparently the recruiters are the ones who make all the decisions by the way. Anyways, he told me that I should hear from recruiters if I was chosen by Monday or tuesday of last week. I never heard anything so I went to do an in person follow up with the same manager. He told me all decisions should be made by late last week, I never received a call. Pretty disappointing but I'm sure there will be other opportunities! If I were you, I'd follow up in person since they must be making the decision soon if orientation is this week.

It's just so frustrating because it looks like less than 10 percent of people that go to the job fair actually get a second interview, so getting one is such a huge accomplishment as I had failed to do so in the summer for a previous job fair at Futureshop. When he said "selection process" I was very disappointed to see that there is another stage to get the job. I wish I would at least get a call saying I didn't get the job so I wouldn't bw waiting forever.

Hahah I know exactly what you mean, it's extremely frustrating just waiting around. Who knows though, maybe you'll get a call from them soon enough!

I did my face to face interview on nov, 16 and he said he'll call within a week but so far nothing. Guess we'll ha e to wait and see. I was really lucky though, my first interview was with the general manager right away!
