I bought a Acer a100 tablet as a gift, and asked the sales person at the store if the gadget could be returned if the recipient did not like the item or wished to exchange it for another tablet. I was told 'yes, she could'. Just to be certain, I called the Futureshop hotline on the night of the purchase to verify this. Again I was told that returning/exchanging would be fine and that store policy was 2 weeks for all exchanges/returns, no hassles.
My wife stopped through the store this evening and the sales people refuted their store promise, rambling on about how an update (to the android OS mind you) invalidated the warranty and the item could not be returned !! Am i not aupposed to update my OS until my warranty expires??? When asked to speak to the manager, he/she hid in the back and wouldn't even come out to talk. What kind of operation do you run?!?? My wife was sent back home with the device and is very disappointed by the rude and inconsiderate service offered by this particular store and its obviously uninformed sales reps - they didnt know anything about the products I was questioning them about when I bought the device (in fact they left me looking at a computer screen when I asked them for specs) and have no clue about the newer model (acer a110) that is due out shortly and which my wife was looking to purchase from the store when released.
Anywhos, there's no point rambling on about this - it'll be an additional waste of time on top of the meaningless time wasted in your store today. There is a point although to NOT stop through this outlet again and recommending that none of my friends do the same. I'll take my chances at (competitor), (competitor), or possibly (competitor).
Disgusted.

Have you tried resetting the device to its factory settings and then returning it? That should wipe out the update.
