Is there a way to hook my lap top to display on my tv even though my laptop doesn't have hdmi output

Simply match up whatever video output you have on your laptop to your tv and buy that cable. Alternatively, you can stream via WiFi thru any WiFi enabled device connected to your TV. Bluray players with built in WiFi, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, BoxeeBox, Apple TV etc...

You have to look at your laptop outputs and your TV inputs.

Some laptops have S-video outputs, and some TVs have VGA inputs.  Check to see what inputs/outputs you have on your TV and laptop.

Failing that, if you have other WiFi devices, as 3M stated, you can stream YouTube or any Internet video source to your TV through your PS3, for example.

Also, some PS3s have SD video card inputs and so do some laptops.  Both of mine have SD video card slots so I can just take my SD card out of my digital camera and pop it into the PS3 to display on my big screen.
