A few questions for you:
- what make and model of TV and Blu-ray player are you using?
- are you using a "high speed" HDMI cable?
- are you certain that you have selected (on your TV's remote) the HDMI input that the Blu-ray player is connected to?
- do you see a completely black screen and absolutely no sound - or something else?
- you say it won't work with an HDMI cable. Does that mean it works with another type of connection (component video for example?)

Hi, just saw this post about somone's blu-ray not working with their tv.
I have a similar problem with mine, i have a 32" Toshiba tv, I cant remember all the details as its a fair few yrs ago when i bought it, I dont think it supports 1080p, but does support 1080i, (both of which im not 100% on their meaning, all i know is its their resolution size).
Im pretty sure my blu-ray player has worked on it before in the past, when i got it, but now (having used it on another tv a 42" 1080p one) its no longer working at all on the 32" one.
Ive just tested it on another 32" in the house, and it was automatically flicking through the different settings, 720p 1080p 1080i when it finally stopped on 1080p and continued to work as normal.
So im assuming my tv is not compatable with my blu-ray player, but as i said earlier i was sure it has worked in the past no problems.
HDMI cable seems to be in working order as per the test on other tv, everything seems fine. The tv simply goes to a black screen and shows no visuals, i can hear sound but nothing comes up, Restarting the player and putting a new disc in may give different results, black screen and no sound, it varies. always a black screen though.
Any ideas on a possible fix or reason to this.
Thanks in advance.

as already suggested, i would check your tv first. ensure you have selected the correct INPUT on your tv. this option should be on your remote control, and it will scroll through all the inputs available to you on your tv: ie cable, hdmi, hdmi2, etc.
what make/model of tv do you have?
if you have confirmed the above, then i would suggest that your tv does not support blu ray HD, 1080p. again if you google your tv specs, you'll find out.
good luck.![]()

All HDTVs are able to output blu-rays through HDMI. If it can't output 1080p, it will downscale accordingly (or at least it should). So I definitely wouldn't think that the TV isn't capable.
Have you tried using every HDMI input on your TV? The one you are using might not be functioning properly.
Are you able to use other HDMI devices in the same HDMI port on the TV?
Someone mentioned a high speed HDMI cable. If they are talking about what I think they are, it's important to make sure that the HDMI cable you are using is HDCP compliant. If it's not, then that could be why you aren't able to get a video signal through HDMI.
Does the blu-ray player work when you hook it up through component video? If it doesn't then it could mean there is an issue with the player itself.
I hope we can help get this sorted out for you! Keep us updated!
