Sony PDP-S560 blue ray player is shown as Region Free on the Future Shop website... The units in the store are marked region A. Does this mean they are opened, modified and boxes resealed before they hit the shelf?

The description of the BDP-S560 on Future Shop's web site - indicating that it is "region free" - is incorrect. The BDP-S560 distributed by Sony for sale in Canada is most certainly not "region free" - it is limited to playing region 1/A DVD and Blu-ray disks. The region code is set by Sony during manufacturing, before the player is packaged and shipped to dealers like Future Shop.
