Most name brand hard drives will work, but need to match the minimum specs below:
- - 7200 RPM rotation speed
- - Between 40GB and 2TB of capacity
- - Holds a single hard drive (enclosures holding two disks are not supported)
- - Plugs into an AC power outlet, MUST be powered!
- - Has a USB 2.0 connection
- - Has no sleep mode (cannot power down when idle)
500GB external hard drive will provide about 60 hours of recording time in HD (high definition) or about 490 hours in SD (standard definition).

Sorry to dig up an old discussion but I just bought the Bell HD 6131 receiver and I would apprecaite it if someone would suggest a hard drive that would work as a PVR for it.
I've tried to find some on my own but I'm afraid all I've used are Western Digital drives for my computers and all of the one's I've looked at here aren't 7200 RPM and I don't know if they don't have a sleep mode or not.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bundy
