i'm building a new computer and i was wondering what would be better for a pci e 2.0 slot and was  wondering what card would be better, 8800gt, 9600gt or even ati.

I'd go with the 9600, it beats most ati's in the benchmarks I seen. Plus depending which company you buy, it can be under 200 dollars.

The GeForce 9600 GT is pretty much on par with the ATi Radeon HD 3870, not faster. Also, why are you not suggesting the 8800 GT?

As of right now, the 8800 GT is pretty much the best deal you can get on the market for a good performance/price ratio.

Don't be fooled by it's name. At $179.99, that XFX 8800 GT outperform the 9600 GT by a good 10% to 15%, same with the HD 3870. If I were you, I would just jump on it the minute they get some more in stock.

Well in that case, I would get that card. Since they are around the same price, not on fs's site though.
