Re: Feedback on Pre-Orders

[ Edited ]

The problem I'm seeing seems to be a breakdown between who told whom when it was okay to start shipping.  From a fullfillment standpoint I'm sure Future Shop would have sent them asap to have them in our hands well before launch if they thought it was possible.  After all, who wants to take up warehouse space for no reason?

My Future Shop CS responses have been repeating that FS' hands were tied by some contract that told them they weren't allowed to start shipping until the 20th.

On the other hand, BioWare's main community rep Stephen Reid (aka @Rockjaw) is on record saying that they've given all retailers the go-ahead to ship TOR preorders in advance so they can deliver on release date.

Still another layer of bureaucracy is EA and EA Canada, the distributor, who may have gone against BioWare's wishes and enforced the 20th as the first available ship date.

Very confusing, but only a few options can be true:

1) BioWare didn't reach out to FS awith whatever explicit permission needed for early shipment, making this their doing.

2) EA went against BioWare and told FS to ship on the 20th no matter what, making the screw up EA's fault.

3) FS ignored one or both of these parties' wishes and their own internal logistics or communication channels are to blame.

Where's Inspector Poirot when you need him?

Re: Feedback on Pre-Orders

I cancelled and got it somewhere else, may not get it before the new year but doubt I would have anyway. Not impressed.
I couldn't get any answer from FS.

Hmm....good idea.  Thinking of doing the same, looks like even from an American site I can get it to my door by the 23rd.

*Edit: Cancelled my order as well, thinking will order from A certain competitor or just forget it and get the digital instead.

Re: Feedback on Pre-Orders

If you preordered online with FS for a discount (e.g. from the E3 promo in June) like I did, and you live near a FS store, you can actually just grab a copy in-store, then return the shipped copy with the in-store receipt once you've received it. It's unfortunate that we have to resort to this tactic.

Re: Feedback on Pre-Orders

hi everyone,

There will be an email sent to everyone who's game has not shipped yet with details about your order status.

Please keep an eye out!

Details of my Pre-order experience with Futureshop.

[ Edited ]

Recently, as has been discussed and seen on this message board (Every post on the first page)

Is about Star wars: The old republic...

Most of it, about how Futureshop completely goofed on releasing these (And then some on how they goofed when it first came) I thought I'd post how I dealt with this situation..

1. I ordered August 27/2011 - Quite a while back

2. Was given knowledge that within 1 hour of ordering, I would be recieving my Early access code =D

3. 48 hours later (not including the Beta weekend - so 96 hours total) I finally recieved Early access code

4. Step 3 was after phoning, Emailing, and messaing Customer support and being told 'It will be there within 12 hours'

5. Waited for release date, told by Customer support ('Don't worry you will recieve the game as early as the 21st, and no later then the 23rd'

6.... Still waiting for the Game, found out today, it just got shipped, wont be here until after Christmas, and now I can't play this game until sometime next week, because the two day grace period is over.

what do we get for all the screw ups? a $25 dollar off, when you spend $50.00 or more, coupon...really? Thats all you can do?

This company, has literally proven to me, that the pre-order system is a joke, I will never be pre-ordering through Futureshop again, .
