I just bought a 1gb DDR3 Zotach geforce 210 to replace the 512mb ATI radeon HD 5450 that came with my computer. I've been having some trouble adjusting my in game in graphics and resolution with it and im not sure if the new card is actually even better even though its a 1gb. Should i reinstall the old one and return the zotac or was it really an upgrade?

The card is better because of the increased memory, but the Geforce 210 is an economy card and won't give you much more gaming power than you already had. I would say go for a Radeon 6570 for $119.99 and this will enable you to play most games on high settings, and brand new games such as Star Wars the Old Republic on medium settings.
I just upgraded one of my two year old computers with this card for this reason.
