Weird Skyrim PC case question (NOT steelbook related)

I just received my preordered copy in the mail today.

I haven't open it yet, but throught the plastic seal wraping I can see clearly that the box art sheet is OUTSIDE of the dvd case, wrapping underneath it a manual and a blank, black dvd case. (the sheet is supposed to be inside the dvd plastice sleeves, but this 1 is clearly outside, wrapping everything else.)

I am wondering if this is normal for the Canadian version (with both English and French in the back of the box), or did I get a weird copy?

My PS3 copy came exactly the same way. Not sure if it was a language issue or not, it's not like there were two sheets. I just thought it was odd, slipped the sheet in the case, and didn't think about it again.

Normally for games that come with instructions in both english and french, the french instructions will be placed outside the case and then wrapped in a separate shrinkwrap. The English instructions will be inside the case.

If that's not the case, can you post a picture so we can see exactly what you are talking about?

Yep I know exactly what you mean. But no, there were not dual English and French covers inside. It was literally packaged exactly like any other game, except that the cover art sleeve had not been inserted inside the outer dvd case plastic, but instead was wrapped loose around it.

I don't have access to pictures right now, but the other poster got what I meant. Not sure if a picture will help, it won't be high res enough to let you see the cover art sleeve is in fact outside ON TOP of the dvd case.

I know that French manuals usually come separately outside of the dvd case, but this is not the issue.

What I am saying is the cover art sleeve is outside the case; as in not already inserted into the dvd plastic cover.

This art sleeve is wrapping like a gift wrap outside of the dvd case AND has a manual outside the case. Which is strange since Skyrim has a French version on Futureshop, that is separate from the English version.

Is this how it is supposed to be, or not?

Hi xenoss,

Is the Game or cover damaged?

I received mine the exact same, the sleeve slide into the DVD case easily enough and wasn't damaged at all, so I didn't think anything of it either.

Since I didn't open it, I cannot varify if the content is damaged or not. What I can say is at least the cover sleeve is damaged (deformed) due to the way it is being folded. I kept it unopened since I cannot exchange it if opened.

This is the 2nd time in the month I've had problems with delivered game from the Futureshop and (competitor). Same company, so I'm assuming same methods.

When my BF3 arrived from (competitor) it was messed up as well. The sleeves was inserted in that case, but done so badly that the entire back cover was folded upwards, completely damaged.

While this time Skyrim came with the cover uninserted.

I'm suspecting that whatever manufacturer FS and (competitor) is getting the games from does an extremely bad job processing the copies, and just as bad QA.

I know how customers like to "threaten" to not purchase from the company again when they have problems, but after my experience recently I'm actually feeling hesitiant to make online purchases from FS and (competitor). The box might not matter to some, but it does to me; otherwise I'd just get a digital copy on Steam.

Re: Weird Skyrim PC case question (NOT steelbook related)

I'm pretty sure that Futureshop does not get these games from a specific manufacturer, they are sent to them by the game Publisher's choice of manufacturer, it sounds like the issues you've had are related to the suppliers and Game Publisher's methods, not Futureshop. Futureshop is a retailer, they have no direct influence on the manufacturers.

Re: Weird Skyrim PC case question (NOT steelbook related)

I called the local FS and it seems that store front copies are like that as well.

Must be a problem with the BC batch.
