I play Xbox all the time, mostly RPG's like Skyrim, fable (1,2,3) The Fall outs etc. and I was thinking about switching over to computer and I plan on getting the microsoft controller with it and I was wondering if there is much of a difference? - FutureShopRubey

I think its really up to you but for games like Skyrim, you really do need a great PC and that can cost quite a bit.
I find graphics are usually better on PC than Xbox (if you have a newer PC)

This guy knows whats up.
While I like Call of duty better on Xbox, every other FPS is best played on pc.
Any most RPGs as well, while yeah. You need a powerful computer to play skyrim. You'll get so much more play out them on PC because of mods.
Anyway, it's all personal preferance to be completely honest.
Go with what your friends play on.

It's personal preference, but if you're looking for a cheaper, but still great option, console gaming is where it's at. You can't afford to be cheap with PC gaming if you want to stay current.

If you're going to consistantly be playing single player games, then PC would be great, especially since there is many customization options you can add to each game. For multiplayer games, I enjoy Xbox much more because of the community as everyone usually talks.
A difference would defintately be graphics. I recently dropped $1300 on my PC on boxing day (i7-2600 quad core, 2 TB HDD, 120 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM, GeForce 560. Antec Sonata IV casing, 21,5" Samsung LED Monitor, G110, G700 mouse and a Razr Tournament Edition Xbox Controller).
I would definately check the settings of your favourite games and do research on what would run smooth on it (usually YouTube has great reviews). If you're going to build your own, I would recommend you don't cheap out on the casing and graphics card. I kind of over-did mine with the 2 TB HDD and the 120 GB SSD (Best 100 bucks I've ever spent, lol).
Skyrim on it plays smoothly at Ultra setitngs and you can tell the difference in graphics. I haven't played much of it yet as Xbox keeps drawing me back in with multiplayer. Poor Star Wars: The Old Republic still is sealed
Battlefield 3 would be great on PC though.
