Pretty much every computer that has a preinstallation image loaded onto it do not come with an option to run a clean install.
If you need a clean install, you'll need to source a Windows 7 disk that coincides with the Product Key found on the side of the computer. You should be able to use that to format the drive and install a clean copy of Windows 7, and activate it with your Product Key. You'll need to provide any missing driver software the computer needs to run.

Yes, you should be able to boot to a Windows 7 Upgrade disk and perform a clean install that way, using the product key on the side of your tower to activate it.
Drivers should be available from Acer's website.

Nah. Any Windows 7 setup CD should let you format the drive right from the setup.
Be sure to burn yourself a set of recovery disks first, just in case something happens and you need to reset the software back to the manufacturer's default, though.
