Hello, Id like to erase everythng out of my computer to its original setting it was at when I bought the lap top. I have viruses and such. Can I use the recovery disc to have my lap top erased?

Yes, you should be able to use your set of recovery disks to completely erase everything on the system and reset the software to its factory fresh state. This should be as easy as putting the first disk into the computer's optical drive and restarting the system. (Some computers may need to be told to boot to the disk -- you'll be told a key to press to enter the boot menu, and you can choose your CD drive there.) The rest is pretty self-explanatory and automatic. Let the recovery program know you're sure you want to erase all data, and it'll go and do its thing.

Note that your computer probably has a built in recovery partition you can use to reset the software, as well. It's often faster and works with less hitches than running the recovery software from disks. If you can provide the manufacturer of your computer, we may be able to provide specific instructions on using this, instead.

Hope that helps!
