Yes, but it will be slower than a regular laptop.  Those processors are not designed for speed.

Personally, I got Ubuntu on my netbook.  It comes with a free version of Libre Office.  It works much faster.

In order to install software on your netbook you will either need to download an online version that you can activate with your key that came with your disc, or use an external DVD drive.
