Re: if i was to do a clean install of windows 7 how could i get hp applications back to window 7

That's a good question.  Sometimes HP will have them available as downloads from their websites... and rarely the recovery disks will have an application recovery option, though I wouldn't recommend that, since the disks are made for Vista.  What I'd recommend if you wanted a clean install was to do a full recovery from your recovery disks first, then do an in place upgrade.  You'll have everything cleaned, except the pre-packaged software.  Doing it this way may cause it's own problems, so it will probably be a fair bit more work.  You may want to get an expert to do it for you, or maybe connect with one of us online so we can help you make everything compatible and running smoothly after the upgrade!

Future Shop may be able to get Windows 7 on your machine through a clean install and also get your HP applications on there.  I can't say for certain without trying it on your model of computer and knowing all the applications that come with it.  Usually though, there are at least a few included applications that are not Windows 7 compatible, and they may or may not have an update or upgrade you can get to make them compatible.

There's always a chance that something on your computer now won't work with Windows 7 or may even prevent other things from working.  In general it's rather safe though, just be sure to go through the Upgrade Advisor and fix any issues it comes up with, if you need help running that tool, you could contact us online via my banner below and we could get that part done for you.

How many computers can i install the upgrade

Nov 23, 2009

If I buy the up-date for Windows 7 how many computers can I use the update with?

I have 4 computers at home, do I have to buy 1 for every computer?

Re: How many computers can i install the upgrade

Thanks for the question tmcmillan

Yes, you would have to purchase 4 copies of the upgrade. Microsoft's EULA (end user license agreement) states that a single product key may only be used at one time per machine.

Future Shop currently has a promotion where an In Home Tech will come to your house and do the work for you, on 3 machines. You would be required to go into the store, purchase the service and the software (Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack), and setup an apoointment. I would recommend this service as it covers 3 out of you 4 machines. It costs $399.99, which includes the above software. A great value for having a certified technician come to your house and complete the work if you ask me. You can call your local store or connect to one of the ConnectPro Online Support Experts by clicking below for further information.

After that you would be required to upgrade the last machine. The software is listed here at $129.99

I hope that answers your questions, feel free to reply or elaborate if you have any other concerns.

M$ also sells a "Windows 7 Home Premium Family Pack Virtual Upgrade - English" for $200 that you can buy for upgrading 3 machines to Windows 7.  I'm thinking about that for myself.  Win 7 is good at sharing when on multiple machines.

Isn't that alread indicated in my reply to the original post ? With the same link as you have provided ?
