IF you have purchased your computer since June 26 of this year, go to here.  Click the link for your computer's manufacturer, fill out their form, and they'll mail you a disk you can install Windows 7 from. Take note some manufacturers require you to send a copy of your receipt, and some require you to pay for shipping.

i bought a compaq laptop from futureshop at aug 20, and i just order the free win 7 upgrade. right now i just wait untill the DVD shiped or i bring my laptop to futureshop and asked for upgrade? i have alot of data in my computer, i afrad that the data will lose if i upgrade (i try back up my data 1 time and the disk is full so i had to delete it)?

can i just ask futureshop expert to upgrade it for me ?

After you get your copy of Windows 7 you can certainly take it in to your nearest Future Shop, they will recommend a full backup of all your data though, as it may be lost during the upgrade.

The website was rearranged last month, so some things were moved. The general Windows 7 Upgrade site from Futureshop has moved here.  You can find the HP specific ordering site directly here.

Just a note that the ordering for the free Windows 7 Upgrades is nearing the end of it's time!  HP will let you order them until March 15th, but some other manufacturers have already stopped distributing the free upgrades.

Also note that the free upgrade only applies to those computers bought prior to 31 January.  Any computer bought in February isn't eligible.

Further note- Many (all?) manufacturers require that you make your request for the free upgrade by March 15, 2010.
