Sony PlayStation 3, PS Vita & PSP

I am trying to play my spartacus season 2 disk on my ps3 but it is not loading.  When I put the disk in it took about 20-25 min for it to even load the disk and when it did look like it was about to play it displayed a 80029940 error.  All my other blu ray movies are loading fine included disk 2 of spartacus.

I have tried the disk multiple times but it still does not load, I have unplugged my ps3 for 20 min as I seen in forums after I googled this issue, change the suggested settings but nothing seems to work.  Could this be a faulting disk and should it be returned to future shop or is there another possible cause/solution?

I have also checked the Firmware and the system indicates that it has the lastest version already

What have you tried so far?

There are many proposed solutions to this error posted on forums such as

Have you tried any of those?

If not, bring the disc into Future Shop and try it out on a BD player and/or PS3 there to see if it is your actual disc or not.  My guess is that it is not your disc.

I have done all of the test those 2 websites state (short of replacing the blu ray lense), i had the super white set to off, turned off the network connect and the frames per second but it still does not play.

I have reset the ps3 settings and once i reset everything the icon was there but it may have just been because it took about 20 min to set everything back up because when i went into the disk i got the error code again and after ejecting the disk and putting it back in it would not show the spartacus disk icon again

Any other suggestions before i return this disk for another one

I help debug issues on the Playstation Network Forums, and one bug that I had found was a video bug in the OS which does not switch resolutions properly.

If you have your PS3 set to 1080p, try setting it to a lower resolution like 720p, and see if the movie plays.

The other thing you can do is take your disc and try it on another PS3 -- either a friend's or one at Future shop -- and test it there.  That may help you determine if it is a disc problem or not.
