My 40G ps3 got YLOD 10 days ago, couldn't turn on and my game stuck inside the console.
Luckily I got FS 3 year extended warranty. I took my PS3 to store for repair and got it back last Firday.
In the repair sheet the engineer wrote: GPU reflowed, motherboard repaired. Tested for 6 hours, verified working.
Took them about a week to fix YLOD, which is good. I was quite happy that I can actually get it back so quickly.
Then I played my ps3 over the weekend and notice there is NEW problem with it!!
The PS3 starts fine and very quiet as usual, however the fan will go CRAZY after 30 to 60 min of game play. It actually sounds like a running Vacuum!!!
So I took a video recording of the ps3 loud fan and burned into disc, took the disc with my console back to FS.
The FS CS rep told me they are sending it back to the repair center. I guess another week without my PS3 
I hope this time the engineer can test it for 6 hours with game play or some game simulation software to make sure the problem is actually fixed!!!
Just curious, has anyone else here experienced the same problem before? PS3 got reqaired and fan became very very loud after?
