Does anyone know if you can pre-order a game from Futureshop and pick it up in store?
I pre-ordered L.A. Noire for the DLC pack but had to wait a week after the games release date to get it in the mail.

I want to pre-order Max Payne 3 now for the $20 towards GTA V. But I don't want to wait a week to get the game when I can pick it up in stores.

Does anyone know a way around this to get the pre-order bonus but not wait a week after the release date?

Unfortunately no, right now you can't. Lots of us seem to wish this option existed because it comes up pretty regularly, but at least for now it's not an option.

One workaround I have used before is to pre-order online, then purchase the game at FS in-store on release day. Then, when the pre-order shows up in the mail, return it to the store with the receipt from your in-store release-day purchase. As long as there is no difference between your online order copy and the one you picked up in-store (ie. difference between regular/limited edition, etc.), you should be able to return the online copy as though it were your in-store purchase copy and retain any bonuses from pre-ordering.

You can pre-order in store and then pick it up on release date in-store.  In fact, I believe the $20 off promotion is only for in-store pre-orders.  I don't see any mention of it on the online pre-order.

How do you assign in store pick up for a pre-order? Is it on selected titles? I tried this with L.A. Noire but the in store pick up option during purchase was "x" out. I assumed at the time it was because there was no store stock avaliable. The same is showing for Max Payne 3, just a red "x" under the store pick up option. But if I wait till May 15th the pre-order bonus only lasts till the 10th of May.

Might just pick it up, save my self the hassle, watch the $20 towards GTAV also only be avaliable for Pre-Orders.

You have to go in-store to make a pre-order for an in-store pickup.

Atomic is correct, and to elaborate slightly, there is never in store stock for a product until after release, which is partially why preorders done online cannot use the In Store Pickup option. In order to pickup a preorder in store you would need to have placed that preorder in the store.

It depends on the game.  Some games will accept pre-orders in-store, while others will not.  You will have to check both here and with your local sales associate.
