The whole 120hz thing is confusing and a deliberate marketing scheme I believe to confuse buyers.
Basically 120/240hz t.vs only accept a 60hz input and then they convert it to 120hz (trumotion or we/e)
So in reality they don't actually process a 120hz signal, it's actually 60 and through some clever
technique which would be akin to software rendering it upscales to 120hz..
3d REQUIRES the t.v accept at least 120hz input. So yes, best to always look for the 3D READY
certification. And don't worry.. they will be everywhere soon !! ![]()

I would suggest that no one buy this money making idea of 3D ready tv. Make them use the existing hardware that we, the consumer have purchased in the past year. 120hz refresh rate or better. Otherwise i will not be buying 3d player and will just upgrade my computer to do just that. Just one guys opinion.

I think alot of people are confused about 3D TV. Just because you have a 1080P/120 does not mean you hook up a 3D blu ray player and buy a 3D blu ray movie and watch it in 3D. You need a 3D TV(yet to be released in Canada), a 3D blu ray player(don't think those are released yet), 3D blu ray movie(not sure if those are out yet either) and 3D glasses($250 for 1 pair)
Are new AV receivers able to pass 3D

IF you have say a Pioneer elite sc-05 or denon 3310 or newer yamaha, and add a 3D blu ray,
will they pass audio to the stereo and video to the tv?
I have heard they need to be HDMI 1.4 certified?????

Yes. Receivers need to be 1.4 capable in order to pass the 3D video signal.
To the best of my knowledge, all 2010 receiver models should be 1.4a compliant. I know that Yamaha (except for the HTR6230) and Harman Kardon (except for the AVR1600) will be releasing firmware updates later this summer.
