Getting new TV under PSP...has anyone negotiated a higher credit?

I am getting my Samsung 42" plasma 720p replaced under the PSP. I don't want another plasma. I have my eye on a Panasonic 42" on sale for $849. Sale ends tomorrow, Jan 6th 2011. The replacement value they are giving me is $550 which is the price of the Samsung 42" plasma currently being sold. That is a $300 difference and then add a PSP and I'm looking at $500 or more. It's hard to justify $500+ given I spent $1200 for my current TV and PSP 2+ years ago.

Has anyone successfully negotiated a better credit towards a new TV? I'd like to narrow that $300 gap to $200. That would be a deal maker. I plan on going back tomorrow but before I speak to a manager I wouldn't mind a tip or two.

Thanks

A Samsung 42 inches 720p plasma is currently sold at 547.99$.  That's what you will get since these are the same specs of your television being replaced.  There are no bargain possible in this case... sorry.  We cannot give you 1200$ that you spent upon your purchase.  It is clearly stated that we are to repalce for the same model or specs if not available anymore.  If you decide to upgrade, it is your choice to do so but you will only get the current price of your TV.

Once the TV is bought and its been 30 days its yours...no negotiating. As new technology emerges the older models drop in price...its a sad reality that we are all victim of...lol A year or two down the road your TV breaks down and you have the PSP, your covered. If it ends up being replaced then you get a similar model to what you had in that price, you will not be able to negotiate any cash back. I think you can get a bigger set, but you will be responsible for paying the difference and purchasing a new PSP, once the product has been replaced the PSP has been fulfilled.

Re: Getting new TV under PSP...has anyone negotiated a higher credit?

No need to start a new thread...

So, my 47LG50 is most likely going to be replaced under PSP..

However I don't see any current TVs in that size that have S-Cable connectivity.

Can I just get a credit for what I paid originally for my tv if no tvs with the same specs exist?

I think they will just upgrade you to the tv with the closest specs to what you originally had. My roommate in university and I hade a rear-projection TV replaced by psp after they went out completely, and they replaced it with a plasma (of the same screen size, etc).

You definitely won't get credit for what you originally paid, depreciation will factor in and depreciation on TVs is very rapid. Unless it's a very recent purchase, whatever you paid for your TV when you bought it is almost certainly significantly less than what you would pay for the same TV, brand new, now.

Re: Getting new TV under PSP...has anyone negotiated a higher credit?

I paid $1399 originally, + $250 for the PSP.

Current 47" LG with 120hz 1080p is LED and is on sale for $699 BUT has no S-Cable which I steady use for my Camcorder...

So what do I do to maximize my credit towards my new tv.

Re: Getting new TV under PSP...has anyone negotiated a higher credit?

I may be totally wrong, it's been a long time since I bought a psp... but I seem to recall the stipulation being that if a certain technology/feature is obsolete or no longer present in the product being replaced, then you will be upgraded to the next closest available, or "current" technology/feature, but no compensation will be made beyond that for unavailable or obsolete features. So the "upgrade" would be considered your compensation for the lack of obsolete features? I'm pretty sure there's wording worked in there somehow that accounts for stuff like that, wherein upon purchasing the psp you indemnify them against replacing older features in return for receiving newer ones...
