Before shelling out several thousand dollars on a 50" + TV, it would be nice to see PQ and other parameters. So how do I check which stores have a TV on display without having to call every store in a 100 km radius.

Depending on which set you are interested in, you can do most of your research online.
Your basic questions would include:
How much do I want to spend?
How big of a screen do I want (50"+)? How big is my room?
Do I want 3D?
Do I want Smart TVs?
Do I want a particular brand?
What resolution do I want?
What does my home theatre setup look like (What connections will I need?)?
Once you narrow down the field to a few TVs, you can call around to find out which stores have your TVs on display. I don't think there is any online resource that tracks display models, and even if there was, it would be a nightmare to keep it current.
Your best bet would be to call your 2-3 closest stores and ask before you drive over.

Thanks For the reply:
I actually know which TV I want. It's between an LG 65" LED that FutureShop doesn't carry and a Sumsung 64" Plasma FutureShop sells. I've already seen the LG on display, but not the Samsung Plasma. I've already been to 3 stores in my area. Guess there's no alternative but calling.

Calling is not that bad. It is a lot faster than driving to those locations to find out that they don't have your TV on display.
Unless you are looking for something very specific, you may prefer to read reviews on the products online. If you are trying to compare two TVs and can't see them side-by-side, it will be very difficult to judge in-person.
Still, it is good that you are doing your homework. I don't think an online system would work for telling you which models are on display at which stores because those displays can be torn down anytime as new models come into the store.

Thanks, But I'm in the Oshawa area.
I actually saw the 59" model at the Oshawa store and I was a little dissapointed. Not at the picture quality, but because the salesman would not switch it from 3D to 2D. I was hoping to see Samsung's 2D to 3D conversion engine at work.
It's difficult to spend $2000 on a TV when you you've only seen a single feature on it.

That sounds odd. I don't know why any sales associate wouldn't do that for an interested customer.
I would go back and look for a different associate, or ask for the Dept. Manager.

I don't want to make a big fuss. But I think it was because he knew I was interested in the 64" and they didn't have it in stock. But I was surprised that he said that he could not even order the 64" model for me because the 550 line is discontinued. But I knew at the time of the visit last week that FS still had online stock.
