Even though the Samsung is 720p, it looks better due to it's LED lighting. IMHO, if you want the larger 37" set, look at the Panasonic and stay away from the LG.

just bought this model LG 37LD450 37-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV last 2 weeks, this is a pretty decent and awesome tv - can't beat the features for the price. low input lag for gaming and 4:4:4 color support, MKV support on the USB port, S-IPS Panel. Awesome TV, Hands Down!
