I think that the best way to watch movies with a ratio larger than 16:9 is to get a bigger tv or better, a front projector....
No argument there. I'm already watching 16:9 content through a CIH projector onto a 2.35:1 screen.
I absolutely love the look of the 2.35 screen even when it is not in use which is why I am excited about the 21:9 TV sets. It just looks so much more cooler in a home theatre. The loss in resolution is a small price to pay.
At CES this year I passed by the Hisense exhibit where there was a big crowd around a large 21:9 LCD. It was stunning - very long/sleek and somehow extremely compelling. In fact, I believe it would integrate into a living room as a picture display over the fireplace quite nicely. I do agree with the resolution comments in this thread, but for a living room or other space where the height of a conventional panel can be overwhelming, this might be the ticket!
