Re: New TVs from CES 2012

Still waiting for that 55LM6700 with the 5mm frame. I'd take that over 240hz on the LM7600 anyday. When does (competitor) get their stock of new LG tv's?

Looks fs raised the price of the 47lm6200 from 1499 to 1599... That's surprising... Or maybe not...

It surprises me less as time goes on.  I'd rather support Canadian retailers, but in the end not reflecting the near parity we have these days in the dollar is going to push me to buy these big ticket items elsewhere.  For some items the prices across borders are comparable, or the difference so small as to be negligable; but for electronics like televisions and a/v receivers and many other things, Canadian retailers are embarassingly behind the times.  A lot like Canadian wireless carriers.

The "this stock was purchased before the dollar rose so high" excuse failed to be valid some time ago; and it would be so ridiculous to cite for something released this year, or even last year or the year before, I see that nobody's even tried.  They simply expect us to be accustomed to paying more at this point, and take advantage of it by jacking up the prices for no particular reason other than the fact complacent consumers continue to allow them to do so.

Ah well; I guess I'll keep my eye on sales over in NY.  The 2011 models should be going for pretty cheap in the next couple months.  The 47LW6500 isn't very different from the 47LM7600, and I've observed it in the past for as low as $1050 compared to the 7600's current $2000 price at FS.  Gee... I wonder which I'll buy, lol.

As far as the competitor goes, I'm not holding my breath.  They've had a poorer selection of 3DTVs than Future Shop for the past while now, and their selection of LG TVs is even poorer.

Hello, (Competitor) is selling 47LW6500 for $1150 which is $100 less than the FS price for 47LW5600 Look like this has been replaced by new model 47LM7600. Any idea what's main difference between the two to justify the price diff?

Looks like early reviews of the Panasonic ST50 model are suggesting it will be the best bang for the buck if picture quality is your #1 priority, as well as having said picture quality from just about any angle.

The LW6500 and LM7600 both appear to have the same contrast ratio, basic 3-D specs, refresh rate, etc.  The LW6500 has the advantage of coming with both a traditional remote control and the magic remote, whereas the LM7600 only includes the magic remote.

The only functional difference I can really identify between the two is that the LM7600 has split-screen 3-D viewing, so two people can play a 3-D videogame on the same screen at the same time (with a special variety of glasses).  While that's an interesting ability, it's one I know I'd never once use.  The biggest thing the LM7600 has going for it over the LW6500 is the thin bezel, but that's not worth a $900 difference at current prices, IMO.

.  I've seen nothing from FS to justify the higher-than-MSRP they're charging, not just for the 2012 sets, but the older 2011s that should now be discounted.

Re: New TVs from CES 2012

I second your thought. I want to buy a TV. I was looking for a :LG Google TV which they presented in CES 2012. It became available in USA in May but in Canada there is still no sign of it. Its almost end of the year and next CES is around the corner but we still cannot get the things from the previous year.

And what is preposterous is huge price differences across the border for the same **bleep** thing. I dont know what is the excuse and when will it end. *SIGH*
