Panasonic or Samsung Plasma??

Just need some advice. I am looking at either the Panasonic TH50PZ80 or 85 compared to the Samsung PN50A650. Which plasma should I go for? The Samsung has gone down in price and I could get it for around $1750.00. Is there a big difference with the two Panasonic plasmas above. i am stuck in a dilemma, can any one sway me one way.
Thanks

i have had all positive experiences with my samsung tv's in the past, so i would recommend samsung :smileyvery-happy: it is more affordable and samsungs generally are more asthetically pleasing.

Have a crt 32inch samsung 4 years and going (chose it over sony) and have been REALLY happy :smileyvery-happy:

The PZ85 over the 80 has:

- 50% greater contrast ( actual 30,000:1 vs 20,000:1)

- different cosmetics as well as being Panasonic's thinnest model

- upgraded universal remote vs a basic one

- PC input vs none

I would recommend the Panny over the Sammy. FYI, Panasonic will be supplying Pioneer with the plasma panles starting in 2009. Pioneer is widely regarded as the world's best TV, so, if it's good enough for them...:smileywink:

I have the 46PZ80 and I love it! Reg DVD, Blu-Ray, reg TV broadcasts, HD broadcasts, and games all look awesome! I'm very pleased with this TV. Personally, I'd stick with Panasonic. There's nothing wrong with the Sammys', but Panasonic is a leader in plasma technology. I have a few Panasonic items and they have all worked extremely well over the years. I paid $1700 for my TV, it was on sale from $2000.

Don't buy plasma TVs, it is a waste of money. If you are planing on buying a tv buy a LCD. LCD will give you a better quality. If you are comparing between Samsung and Panasonic go with Samsung for LCD tvs. There are only two companies that make LCDs Samsung and Sharp the rest of the companies just buy it off from one of the two. So no matter what TV you are buying it is using one of the two LCD screen. But when it comes to Panasonic vs. Samsung; Samsung wins. But don't buy plasma.

That's a good advice. Don't buy a TV, buy a fireplace instead.

Whoa!...are you tell me I made a bad choice? Panasonic/Pioneer plasmas are the highest rated plasmas on the market. I did a ton of research and bought what I felt was good quality. Plasmas are far better made than they were years ago. They also produce the absolute highest quality a TV can display, sure they are prone to burn-in but it takes a lot longer and more harsh conditions are needed before this occurs. On LCD's the guns can wear out over time...neither technology is wear-proof.

Stand beside a 1080p plasma and a 1080p LCD and tell me which one produces the best and fastest image, then tell me which one you like better.

If you want a 50" 1080p plasma, I saw a great deal for the Samsung. I think its just 1500 bucks now. That is a great deal for a t.v. that size in 1080p made by a respectable manufacturer.
