I've had sound issues with either my TV or my HDPVR recently, I have no idea what could cause these as I am not technical whatsoever. I'm thinking it's my TV becuase it's happened a few times with my xbox and blu-ray player once (i just got the BRP on boxing day, and only used it a few times)
I have an LG 42" LCD, I got it December 2007, and the Cable Box a few days later in Jan 2008, both from FutureShop. Recently (as in the past few months, I'd say) the sound cuts out when watching TV, and I have to turn off the TV and turn it back on to fix it, powering down the PVR doesn't fix it.
The sound thing has happend with my Blu-Ray once or twice, but it worked fine for the rest of the movie once I turned the TV off/on, and on my XBox, I've had to turn off my TV and turn it back on very very rarely, and when I turn it back on, my XBox gives me a "HDCP link restored" message.
I recently moved my PVR to a different HDMI port, and it's much much louder now, I used to have it on 50 before to hear anything, now it's clear at ~20, and my XBox is really loud at 20. But the sound still cuts out regularly, usually it'll come back after a few seconds, and other times it'll take me turning off the TV and turning it back on.
Recently, it's also doing it to video, I will turn my TV and I'll have a black screen, changing the channel will fix it some times, other times I turn off my TV and turn it back on.
I also had surround sound on it before, but one day it just stopped working, I could hear the subwoofer doing it's thing, but the actual sound from the video game, movie or TV show wouldn't come out clear at all, and when I did a speaker test I could hear sound fine, but during video games, movies, and tv shows themselves, I couldn't hear a thing, I got a static-like sounds when i turned the surround sound receiver's sound way up, but that's it, and maybe make out what might've been sound from the program I had on.
I have PSP on my TV until the end of Dec 2011, and my cable box until the beginning of Jan 2012.
