Verifying tv for damage

Purchased a tv a couple of weeks ago, and was forced to open the tv box with a fs employee present to "inspect" the tv for damage, prior to allowing me to take it out of the store I've purchased multiple tvs in the past and have never had to do this before (from this store in fact). Is this a cross wide fs policy or local to my store? It rubs me the wrong way, but am over it now. I understand the need to protect your sale, but the inspection was hardly comprehensive potentially leaving the customer with the raw end of the deal.

Re: Verifying tv for damage

It is a common practice.  The reason they do it is to protect the customer.  There have been situations where the TV was damaged in the storeéwarehouse or during shipping, but when the customer opened it up it was broken.  Now they have to bring a broken TV back to the store and try and convince them that they, the customer did not break it.

So although it seems to be a quick and uncomprehensive, they are checking to see if the screen is cracked.  It only takes two seconds because usually you can see and feel a giant crack in the screen.

I hope that clears it up.  Its more for your protection than ours.
