In my opinion, i think LG make horrible tvs, plasma and LCD. I have few friends that had LG plasmas and LCDs and they told me they were terrible.

That was a couple years ago, they're probably better now, but i tend to stay away from that brand.

For plasma, Panasonic and Pioneer (however discontinued the Kuro models) are the best Plasmas on the market right now. They are pricey, but you will be getting a quality and reliable television. I would go for the Panasonic, the 2010 models should be coming out soon, so look for those.

I have the Panasonic Plasma TCPG15 (42" model) that i bought last summer and it's an amazing tv, blacks are deep and the picture quality is awesome.

Burn-in is not a big of issue now then it was 5  or 10 years ago, they have these anti-burn in features like pixel-shifting, that can be impossible to leave one...only way it can likely occur is if the tv is on for 3 days straight on CNN or any other channel with those tickers.

It's funny, LG makes bad LCD TVs, but they make good LCD computer monitors.  I've had a LG monitor for over a year now with no issue.  Is the technology/hardware really so different?

Another big consideration with the LG TV's to watch out for, is the Power Consumption. They require hugh amounts of power when compared to other makes like Panasonic and Samsung. You should consider the future cost of all this power over the life of the TV. From a financial standpoint,it may be a wiser choice to get a more expensive TV now from a different manufacturer which will cost you less money to operate. The cost of electricity will only get more expensive over time. You should have a look at the power consumption #'s from these different company HDTV's ,before you make any final decision to buy.
