dvi/hdmi

Just got a new TV and need to make my HD/PVR work. I have a DVI/HDMI cable ,but need to get my audio working. It does not have a red/white audio in for that port. It has a single headphone type jack for audio in. will an Ipod adapter work for that or what type of cable do I need. Sony TV EX62 bravia

Re: dvi/hdmi

Honestly, it would probably be cheaper for you to go out and get yourself a straight HDMI cable than going out and buying a different cable that would only give you analog audio. Getting an HDMI cable will give you digital audio as well as the HD picture.

Re: dvi/hdmi

I believe you are describing a Mini-Mini Stereo cable, it has a headphone jack on either end.  If so it won't work.

Your Shaw box should have Audio Outs on the box.  In fact it will have an Optical, Digital Coax and Red and White stereo audio.

I'm assuming this is the PVR you have (see link)

The HDMI's audio signal can should be able to be reassigned to  accept audio from another input.  (Refer to manual)The other option if you can't reassign audio for the HDMI, is to run component cables (Red/Green/Blue)  You will get the exact same pic quality and be able to get the audio as well.
