Samsung, Sony and LG sets are currently Edge Lit, (LED's are place along the edges of the TV and not spread across the entire panel) with some sets having local dimming to mimic an actual fully backlit TV. \
The only fully backlit set that I know of, and if you can find it, would be a Sharp 40LE700UN
